Description
The Private Residential Leases Act (Cap. 604), which was introduced in 2020, is the most significant reform to have occurred in Malta’s residential rental industry in recent years. The goal of these changes is to give both landlords and tenants a more equitable and open system. Many landlords, however, are still ignorant of or only partially aware of the new rules, which may result in inadvertent legal violations, disagreements with tenants, or monetary loss.
This micro‐credential is intended to give landlords, regardless of experience level, a firm, hands‐on grasp of their rights and responsibilities under current Maltese law. Lease registration, tenant screening, security deposits, conditions of the contract, eviction protocols, and dispute resolution procedures are among the subjects covered.
The workshop will examine how to strike a balance between defending landlords’ investments and defending renters’ rights. Tax responsibilities, ethical rental practices, and methods for preserving good landlord‐tenant relations will also be covered.
This course, which is offered in four two‐hour sessions, is appropriate for both professional landlords and small‐scale property owners. Participants will graduate with more skills to efficiently, morally, and legally manage rental properties. In addition to ensuring legal compliance, the micro‐credential lowers risk and boosts professionalism in rental property management.

Delivery of modules: Individual modules will be announced at the start of the programme to fit the work-based learning and practical schedules. Our programmes are structured around a modular system of qualifications, designed to provide flexibility and responsiveness to both learners and industry partners. Given the strong work-based learning component of our programmes, it is not always possible to apply a uniform delivery model across all courses. Therefore, modules may be delivered on a weekly, monthly, or semester basis, depending on the specific requirements of the course and the availability of industry placements.
The exact delivery structure for each module or programme will be announced by the respective trainer at the start of the course, taking into account:
- the availability of work-placement opportunities,
- the learners’ and workers’ schedules, and
- the capacity of host industries to accommodate training and practical experience.
This flexible approach ensures that EVA can maintain high-quality, relevant, and industry-aligned training, while supporting both learners’ educational needs and the realities of the workplace environment.
